MODERN FIBER + PAINTING by Jordan Sandlin
charleston, sc
My work is an exploration of color and texture, the mundane, with a hearty dash of midcentury modern aesthetics. It could be more than a dash, actually. I work predominantly in punch needle embroidery and rug tufting but also explore painting (gouache is a favorite) and printmaking. I have a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Alabama, where my areas of study were Printmaking and Painting. I have always loved handmade objects, and fiber art scratches my itch to live between high art and craft. Originally from North Alabama, and after a decade in Atlanta, I live and work with my husband, the archaeologist, my daughter, the kidpreneur behind Happy Poms, and our coonhound, Lucy Louise, in coastal Charleston, SC. By day, I'm a project manager and developer for a local exhibit firm where we help our clients create the perfect vision to tell their story.
